ProTecTube™ & ProTecTube™II

ProTecTubes are the most sophisticated soft beach or structure defense systems against coastal erosion. The system uses 3 tubes, welded together, and formed into a wedge-shaped structure that absorbs wave energy more efficiently. The patented 3 to 1 slope also allows waves to be attenuated instead of reflected so that unlike seawall protection, ProTecTube™ will not erode away the beach in front of the protected property. It can be used not only for structure protection but also to “perch” a beach.
PROTECTUBE
When a ProTecTube™ is used to defend structures such as houses, condos, building or other man-made structures, ProTecTube™ has several unique properties. By using an impermeable bladder, ProTecTube™ can be inflated with water for protection in a matter of hours. Later, it can be permanently filled with sand for lasting protection.
PROTECTUBE II
For perching beaches, ProTecTube™ II uses PerfectPore™ inner fabric which allows water flow through, so the ProTecTube™ is environmentally invisible. Even turtles can nest on ProTecTube perched beaches! A perched beach resists erosion to the horizontal location of the top of the ProTecTube™ II up to its design height (standard height is 1.5 meters).

ProTecTube™ guarantees a minimum width perched beach even after major storm events. Combined with other techniques such as sand re-nourishment, results are lasting instead of temporary. ProTecTube™ perched beaches are also combined with natural nourishment methods such as Reef Ball submerged systems to protect the beach during major storms while allowing submerged breakwaters to build sand during normal wave climates and less severe storms.

ProTecTubes™ can be designed in many different non-standard heights up to 4 meters, and as small as practically desired.

Both applications of ProTecTubes™ use ProTecShield™ Armoring fabric as an outer layer. ProTecShield™ can be created in colors to match nearly any beach. This means that even when exposed during storm events, it looks natural.
